Mint & Garbanzo Beans Basmati Rice Pullao

Just add Mint & Garbanzo Beans

A blend of spices and Basmati rice with Mint & Garbanzo Beans makes a wonderful rice dish to complement any meal.

You need:

  • 1 Pkg of Rice Pullao Mix,
  • 1 15oz can(S&W brand preferred),
  • 1/2 large or 1 med. chopped onion(red onion preferred),
  • Chopped Mint,

Optional but preferred method

  • Grind 1/2 bunch of cilantro, 1/2 bunch of mint, 3-4 garlic clove, 1/2inch ginger, 1 jalapeno (as per taste).

Preparation:-

Heat 2 - 3 Tblspn of oil in the pot, add 1 whole package of Rice Mix Roast it on low fire for 60 seconds until all the rice are well coated with oil. Add Chopped or ground Mint paste. Add 3/4 can of washed and drained garbanzo beans. Add 2 (21/2 for softer rice) cups of water. Adjust salt to taste. Bring it to boil. COVER & LOWER the heat to LOW. Cook until all the water is absorbed, for about 20-30 minutes. Garnish with chopped Mint & Cilantro.

Tips:

  • Make sure you take enough oil to roast the Rice Mix as it will releases the flavors.
  • Roast the Rice well as the cooked rice will hold great shape without being soggy and limp.
  • Chopped mint works well but the flavor of mint is intense if you grind it with cilantro, cloves, ginger & jalapeno.
  • Just ground mint also will work better then chopped mint.
  • You can adjust the ratio of mint & cilantro.
  • Add other ingredients after roasting the Rice.
  • 3/4 can of garbanzo is just right amount of beans for the rice.
  • Let the rice rest for 5-10 after turning off the stove.
